Grand inauguration of International School Cricket Premier League (ISCPL-2018) at CMS
Lucknow, 8 December : The 6-day International School Cricket Premier League
(ISCPL-2018), organized by City Montessori School, Kanpur Road Campus was inaugurated today amidst scintillating cultural items at CMS Kanpur Road premises. Chief Guest, Mr R P Singh, renowned Indian Cricketer, inaugurated the ISCPL-2018 by lighting the lamp of sports spirit while the occasion sparkled with the benign presence of Mr Anshuman Gaekwad, former Indian Cricketer; Mr Rajkumar Sharma, Cricket Coach, Shri S K Agarwal, Director, UPCA and several other eminent personalities. It is worth mentioning here that CMS Kanpur Road Campus is organizing the 5th International School Cricket Premier League (ISCPL-2018) from 8 to 13 December 2018. In this school level cricket tournament, 16 teams from Australia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Oman and various states of India are participating.
At the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest, Mr R P Singh congratulated City Montessori School for organizing this international cricket tournament saying that it would surely be one of the most exciting tournaments for Lucknowites. Mr Singh said that CMS has provided a golden opportunity for young and aspiring cricketers to exhibit their sports abilities and qualify for high level competition.
On this grand and majestic inaugural ceremony of ISCPL-2018, CMS students presented cultural items as teams of various countries marched into the sport arena lit up with flood lights. The inaugural ceremony began with an All Religion and World Peace Prayer. Students of CMS carrying flags of different nations spread the message of peace and unity through sports. Spectators were mesmerized watching the grand opening ceremony full of music and lights highlighting the spirit of unity in diversity that is an inherent part of Indian culture and tradition.
Ahead of this, the young cricketers hailed from various countries along with their coaches met the press reporters at a press conference held today in the afternoon and shared their views on this mega event. Interacting with the press reporters, the young cricketers of St. Peter's School, South Africa, said that this cricket tournament is unique in itself where young players are getting the opportunity to test themselves in international matches. Young players of Sports Foundation, Sydney, Australia seemed elated and profusely praised the CMS hospitality. They opined that this tournament provides the opportunity to young talents to come up on fore. Players of International School Sports Complex, Sri Lanka, opined that here we will refine our cricketing skills and will make new friends too. Similarly, the young cricketers of Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Nepal, Oman and various states of India expressed their views and praised this mega event.
On this occasion, Convenor of ISCPL-2018 and Principal of CMS Kanpur Road Campus, Dr Vineeta Kamran, welcomed the young players. She expressed hope that the young players will not only explore their talents in this mega event, they will also disseminate the message of world peace and unity with their sportsmanship. Dr Kamran further informed that the pattern of this cricket contest is same as International T-20 contests and its rules and regulations are also the same. All the 16 teams of ISCPL-2018 are divided into 4 pools, each pool having 4 teams. The matches are being held at the grounds of CMS Kanpur Road stadium, Multi Activity Centre, Sector-G, LDA Colony, Kanpur Road and Parth Stadium, Kanpur Road. Dr Kamran further stated that various awards, like Man of the Match, Man of the Series, Best Bowler, Best Batsman and Best Fielder award etc. will be given at this international cricket contest.
Founder of CMS and renowned educationist, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that the ISCPL-2018 will boost up the feelings of world unity and world peace. The young players will not only compete with others but also the feelings of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam will develop in them.
Mr Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS informed that two day-night matches were played today. The first match was played between Prince Edward School, Zimbabwe and City Montessori School, Lucknow at CMS Kanpur Road Cricket ground. The second match was played between International School Sports Complex, Sri Lanka and St. Peter's School, South Africa at Multi Activity Centre, Sector-G, LDA Colony, Kanpur Road.
Mr Sharma informed that tomorrow on 9th December, the 2nd day of ISCPL, a total of 8 matches will be held comprising 3 matches each at CMS Kanpur Road Cricket Ground, 3 matches at Multi Activity Centre, Sector-G, LDA Colony and 2 matches at Paarth Stadium, Kanpur Road. Timings of these matches are 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm respectively.
